How Scholarships Actually Get Disbursed
Most scholarships, whether government or private, are disbursed in one of two ways: directly to your bank account (common for government schemes via the National Scholarship Portal) or directly adjusted against your college fees (more common for merit scholarships awarded by the institution itself). Processing times vary widely — government disbursements can take several weeks to a few months after approval, since they often go through a verification step at the state or central level. Keep your bank account, Aadhaar linkage, and documents up to date and consistent across every form you submit; mismatched names or outdated bank details are the single most common reason disbursements get delayed.
